THE SIGNIFICANCE OF KADDISH

A TRUE MEMORIAL

In a spirit of consolation and surrender the Kaddish begins with the admission that the world that is known only to Him, the Omniscient Creator of the universe, remains mysterious and paradoxical to man. It ends with a passionate hope, expressed in the words of the friends of Job as they sought to comfort him, "oseh shalom bimeromav", that He who is sufficiently mighty to make peace among the celestial bodies may also bring peace to all mankind.

Every Jew has a very important wish in his life, to make sure that after he passes there will be someone who will say Kaddish in his memory thereby elevating his/her soul during the first year of mourning as well as on the anniversary (Yahrzeit) in the years that follow.

YOU HAVE SOMEONE TO SAY KADDISH

THE OBLIGATION OF SAYING KADDISH

MyKaddish by Central Chabad of Tel Aviv allows everyone to have someone say Kaddish after him/her by a trusted G-d fearing Jew who will say Kaddish and learn Mishnayot (corresponding to the letters of the letters of neshama) three times a day during the year of mourning, followed each year on the day of the Yahrzeit in memory of the deceased soul.

Kaddis his recited at the funeral, during the week of mourning (shiva), for the following 11 month during all three services, in the morning, afternoon and evenings, and then every year on the anniversary of passing. However, sometimes, for some particular reason, one cannot attend the services in the synagogue or the deceased did not leave any children to say Kaddish for him/her or one can forget the Hebrew date of the Yahrzeit.

THE BOOK OF KADDISH - WE DON'T FORGET

Central Chabad keeps the deceased’s name and date of passing on a computerized system called “Sefer Hakaddish” (Book of Kaddish) whose goal is to remind family members every year, before the Yahrzeit, by mail or email, of the exact Hebrew date. On the day of the Yahrzeit itself we say Kaddish and learn Mishnayot in memory of the departed soul.
